The Beginning of Holos
For this project, our goal was to create a wellness app from scratch.
My teammate and I had a few ideas about what our app can contain mostly focusing on mental and physical wellness at work.
We looked at what already existing was on the market.
We were looking for brands that combine a holistic approach at work that can be based on the reminder for having breaks during the day at work and so on. But any of those apps have a well-being approach at work.
- Market research
We had few ideas about what the app can contain so we looked at what was on the market.
We were looking for brands that combine a holistic approach at work, and also can be based on reminders for having breaks during the day at work and so on. But any of those apps have a well-being approach at work.

User Research
The pandemic has caused a major shift in where we work, with many people choosing to remote. So how relevant is an app focussed on better health when working from home?
We interviewed 5 people based in capital cities across Europe and all had one thing in common > they work / or study from home
“ I don’t adjust my posture when I’m working. It’s something that I need to do but I don’t think about it “
— Liz, 57, Amsterdam
User Quote
“ I have a lot of pain, my back, my head. It all aches from too much computer work. I don’t know how to solve this “
— Farah, 30, Paris

We conducted some quantitative research and our survey backed this up with
Survey Results
72.8%
Would like to improve posture
37.5%
Works more than 40 hours a week behind the computer
50%
Indicated shoulder pain & tired eyes
- 72.8% said they would like to improve their posture
- 50% have shoulder pain and 56% suffer from tired eyes.

After we made the Affinity Diagram we saw patterns emerging and we focused on the pains users have

« Lots of work without enough breaks can affect the mental and physical health, its important to take breaks from screens»
With everything we had learned so far, Remote Rihanna was constructed as a user persona, a young woman living in Paris starting her new remote job as a front-end developer. Interestingly was that 70.2% of the people that had filled in the survey identified as a woman

- Problem Statement

PROTOTYPE

- LOW - FIDELITY
It was time for us to start sketching! Here you see multiple ideas which we combine to fit the MVP. We had fun on this part, considering my teammate and I love creation and brainstorming. We sketch a lot about our vision of the project and here’s what we and up with

“ Does the double RR represent the profile or the logo? I’m confused ”
“ The footer has too many things for me ”
“ What happens if I press a part on the body?
And to which page will this bring me? “
“ It would be great to have a notification that says: ARE YOU SITTING STRAIGHT? As a reminder ”
LOW - FIDELITY Feedback Usability Testing
Users had a few struggles with the profile wasn’t clear, the size of the footer to big, and some reminders missing for them

- MID - FIDELITY
We digitized these into the mid-fy wireframes and start to ideate the logo and the meaning behind it. my fellow teammate and I have this great skill to love brainstorming so we looking at depping into the meaning of Holistic who’s embracing the concept of our App

We also conducted usability tests and the feedback we received from the Mid-Fi was mainly about : having more option for choosing the pains, and changing the word insight for the dashboard in Overview :

“ For setting up the office, I would like to have this opportunity to have a category for each segment and not just a broad one like the desk ”
“ The section tracking your pain must be more precise about the location.
Like the option for lower back pain ”
“ To me the word insight is weird, maybe change it to overview? ”

THE VISUAL COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Unfortunately, When we looked at posture apps, We didn’t really find one that combine the holistic and calm aesthetic we had in mind

INSPIRATION & CONCEPT

Holos At Work
“Is a wellness app for people that work remotely, focussed on the office from home.
The holistic approach looks at all aspects, talking in body and mental health as well as your home situation, which can give discomfort when unaligned.
Learn how to set up an ergonomic office, tips for compartmentalizing your workspace from your home life, and get notifications for mindful breaks that pay attention to all parts of the senses: resting eyes, clearing your head with a mindful moment outside, stretching for pain relief and time for food, water and play!
The app tracks your pain and breaks activities, giving tips for improvement and insights for you to see how you are doing and patterns that can be causing your discomfort.”

Moodboard
We decided on the following key attributes for the brand identity:
Holistic / Ergonomic / Home Office / Calm / Conscious. With this we created a moodboard to visualize the direction we wanted to go.

- Style Tile
For the Style Tile part, all elements are inspired by everything being connected, the alignment of stars and the body as a sort of grid. We wanted it to have this cosmic look but still feel professional as it is tackling a health topic.

HIGH FIDELITY PROTOTYPE

- HIGH - FI
We are really proud of the result we obtain. Here we are following the experience of Rihanna on the app Holos at Work. The user start enter on the app after receive the break notification, she accept the break. She track her different body pains. Rihanna set up her ergonomic office. She also have a look to her insight. For this project we also create an error message when Rihanna decide to sign up.
